Silsilah Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When the believers will be freed from the Fire of Hell and will be in safety and peace on the Day of Resurrection, they will argue intensely with their Lord about their brothers who have entered Hell, just as one of you argues with his friend for his right. They will say: O our Lord! Our brothers who used to pray with us, fast, and perform Hajj with us, but You have made them enter the Fire. Allah, the Exalted, will say: Go and bring out those whom you recognize. They will go and recognize them by their faces, for the Fire will not have affected their faces; some will have been burnt by the Fire up to half their shins, and some up to their knees. (In any case) they will bring them out and say: O our Lord! We have brought out those believers whom You commanded us to bring out. Then Allah, the Exalted, will say: Bring out from the Fire anyone who has faith in his heart equal to a dinar... then bring out anyone who has faith in his heart equal to half a dinar. Until Allah, the Exalted, will say: Bring out from the Fire anyone who has even the smallest particle of faith in his heart.” Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Whoever does not affirm this hadith, let him recite this verse: «إِنَّ اللَّـهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ وَإِنْ تَكُ حَسَنَةً يُضَاعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِنْ لَدُنْهُ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا» (4:40 An-Nisa) “Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom’s weight; and if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.” (The remaining part of the blessed hadith is as follows:) They will say: O our Lord! We have brought out the believers from Hell according to Your command; now only those remain in it in whom there is no good at all. Allah, the Exalted, will say: The angels have interceded, the prophets have interceded, and the believers have interceded; now only the Most Merciful of the merciful remains. Then Allah, the Exalted, will take out from the Fire a handful or two of people who have done no good deeds and have become coal. They will be brought to «ماء الحياة» (the Water of Life), and this water will be poured over them; their bodies will grow like seeds growing in the flow of a flood, and they will be like pearls. On their necks will be a seal inscribed with «عتقاء الله» (freed by Allah, the Exalted). It will be said to them: Enter Paradise; whatever you desire or whatever you see will be given to you, and some blessings will be even greater than that. They will say: O our Lord! What are those blessings? Allah, the Exalted, will say: I am pleased with you and will never be displeased with you.”
