Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Do you prefer to perform ablution from a covered new jug, or from vessels like a lota?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather I prefer to perform ablution from common vessels like a lota. Indeed, the religion of Allah is easy. The religion of Islam consists of a gentle and easygoing Shariah." He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to send for water containers, so water would be brought, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would drink from it and hope for the blessing of the Muslims' hands.
