- (إنّ هذا بكى؛ لما فَقَدَ من الذِّكر) .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to deliver the sermon leaning against a date-palm trunk. An Ansari woman, whose slave was a carpenter, said: O Messenger of Allah! My slave is a carpenter, should I order him to make a pulpit for you so that you may deliver the sermon standing on it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why not." So she had a pulpit made. When Friday came and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood on the pulpit to deliver the sermon, that trunk began to cry like a child. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When that trunk lost the remembrance (i.e., the words of the sermon), it began to cry."
