Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “On the Day of Resurrection, some prophets will come with two followers, some with three, and some with more or less than that. The prophet will be asked: ‘Did you convey the message to your people?’ He will say: ‘Yes.’ Then his nation will be called and asked: ‘Did your prophet convey (Allah’s) message to you?’ They will say: ‘No.’ The prophet will be asked: ‘Who will testify in your favor?’ He will say: ‘Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his ummah.’ So the ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) will be called and it will be said to them: ‘Did this prophet convey (Allah’s) message to his people?’ They will say: ‘Yes.’ Allah, the Exalted, will ask: ‘How did you know?’ They will say: ‘Our prophet told us that all the messengers conveyed (Allah’s) message to their nations, and we affirmed him.’ This is the meaning of Allah’s statement: ‘And thus We have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you.’ (Surah al-Baqarah: 143)”
