Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Salamah bin Nufail al-Kindi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), when a man said: O Messenger of Allah! People have made horses worthless, abandoned weapons, and started saying: Now there is no more jihad, now fighting has ended. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned his face and said: "These people are speaking contrary to the truth. Now, right now, fighting has begun. A group from my Ummah will always fight upon the truth. Allah, the Exalted, will continue to turn the hearts of people for them, and will provide sustenance for them (in the form of war booty) from His servants, until the promise of Allah comes to pass. (Remember that) goodness will remain hanging in the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection. Revelation is coming to me: I am going to die, I am not going to remain, you people will follow after me in groups, and you will shed each other's blood. (Remember that) Syria is the origin of the homes of the believers."
