Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I am grabbing you by your waists to save you from the Fire, but you are forcefully rushing into it like moths and flying locusts. Perhaps I will let go of your waists. (Remember that) I will be your predecessor at the Hawd (the Pond), you will come to me united and scattered (in both conditions), I will recognize you by your names and signs just as a man recognizes a strange camel that has entered his herd. But you will be driven away to the left, and I will appeal to the Lord of the worlds for you, saying: O my Lord! (Save) my Ummah. It will be said in response: You do not know what innovations they introduced after you; after you, they turned back on their heels. I do not want to see any of you in such a state that he is carrying a bleating goat and calling out: O Muhammad! O Muhammad! (Help me), and I will say: I do not own anything for you from Allah, I had conveyed the message (to you). Nor do I want to recognize anyone in such a state that he is carrying a crying camel and calling out: O Muhammad! O Muhammad! (Support me), and I will say: I do not own anything for you from Allah, I had conveyed the message (that do not do so). Nor should it happen that any of you on the Day of Resurrection is carrying a neighing horse and calling out: O Muhammad! O Muhammad! I will reply: I do not own anything for you from Allah. I do not want to see any of you on the Day of Resurrection carrying a piece of old skin and calling out: O Muhammad! O Muhammad! And I will say: I do not own anything for you, I had conveyed (the message of Allah) to you.”
