Hadith 3547

Jubair bin Nufair says that after the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), we were encamped with Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Ka’b bin Murrah Bahzi (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: “If I had not heard this matter from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I would not have stood at this place.” When Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) heard the name of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he made the people sit down. He said: “We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by there. He had arranged his hair and had wrapped a cloth over his face. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘From beneath the feet of this (Uthman), a tribulation will emerge. At that time, he (Uthman) and his followers will be upon guidance.’ Near the pulpit, Ibn Hawalah Azdi stood up and said to me: (Ka’b!) Are you also his companion? I said: Yes. By Allah! I was present in that gathering. If I were certain that there are people in this army who would confirm me, I would be the first to speak about it.”
