Hadith 3442

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to my people, "Bahilah," as a preacher. When I reached them, I was hungry and they were eating food at that time (in one narration, it is mentioned that they were eating blood). They turned towards me and honored me, saying: "Welcome to Sadi bin Ajlan." They said: "We have received news that you have inclined towards that man (Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him). Is that so?" I said: "No, no. I have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and now the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has sent me (as an envoy) so that I may present Islam and its legal rulings to you." They said: "Come, eat food." I said: "Woe to you! I have come to forbid you from (such kinds of foods). I am the envoy of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I have come to you so that you may become believers." I kept inviting them to Islam, but they kept denying and rebuking me. I said to them: "Woe to you! I am extremely thirsty, at least give me water." At that time, I also had a turban with me. They said: "No. We will leave you like this until you die." I left from there in a state of severe hunger and thirst. I was extremely exhausted and suffocating. I put my head in the turban and, in the intense heat, slept on the burning ground. In my dream, milk was brought to me (and it was so delicious that) people would not have seen milk more delicious than that. I was given the opportunity to drink it; I drank and was satisfied, and my belly became full. People said: "A noble and honorable man had come to you, but you did not honor him and rejected him. Go and feed him as he wishes and give him something to drink." They brought food to me, but I said: "I have no need for your food and drink. Allah, the Exalted, has fed me and given me drink. Look at my body." Then I showed them my (full and satisfied) belly. When they saw this (miraculous) situation, they believed in me and in what I had brought from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and all of them became Muslims.
