Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "These Ansari men and women have gathered in the mosque and are weeping." He asked: "Why are these people weeping?" The man said: "They fear your death." Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out, with a cloak draped over his shoulders and a dust-colored turban tied on his head. He ascended the pulpit; this was his last gathering. He praised and glorified Allah, and then said: "To proceed: O people! The number of people is increasing, and the number of the Ansar is decreasing, until their number will become like the salt in food. (Listen!) Whoever among you becomes a leader over the affairs of Muhammad’s Ummah and has the power to benefit or harm someone, then he should accept the good deeds of the Ansar and overlook their faults."
