Era of the Companions after the Prophet was the best
Hadith 3314
- (خيرُ النّاسِ قرني الذي أنا منهم، ثمّ الذين يلونَهم، [ثمّ الذين يلونَهم] ، ثم ينشَأ أقوامٌ يفشُو فيهم السِّمَنُ، يشهدُون ولا يُستشهَدون، ولهم لَغَطٌ في أسواقِهم) .
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "My contemporaries are the best of people, then those who come after them, then those who come after them. Then there will come people among whom obesity will become common (due to desire for worldly pleasures), they will give testimony though it will not be sought from them, and they will create noise and commotion in the markets."
