Era of the Companions after the Prophet was the best
Hadith 3312
- " خير أمتي القرن الذي بعثت فيه، ثم الذين يلونهم، (ثم الذين يلونهم) - والله أعلم أذكر الثالثة أم لا - ثم يخلف قوم يحبون السمانة، يشهدون قبل أن يستشهدوا ".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best individuals of my Ummah are those among whom I was sent, then those who will come after them (i.e., the Tabi‘in), then those who will come after them (i.e., the Tabi‘ Tabi‘in)." Allah Almighty knows best whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the third time or not. "Then there will arise people who will love obesity and will bear witness though they will not be asked to bear witness."
