Attributing lies to the Prophet is a grave crime
Hadith 330
- " إياكم وكثرة الحديث عني، من قال علي فلا يقولن إلا حقا أو صدقا، فمن قال علي ما لم أقل فليتبوأ مقعده من النار ".
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Refrain from narrating too many ahadith from me. Whoever attributes something to me should speak the truth and what is right, because whoever attributes to me something which I did not say, then let him prepare his abode in the Hellfire."
