Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Whatever I used to hear from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), I would write it down with the intention of remembering it. The Quraysh stopped me from doing so and said: Do you write down everything, while the situation is that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is a human being who speaks in anger and in happiness? So I stopped writing, and when this (the statement of the Quraysh) was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pointed to his mouth with his finger and said: “Write! By the One in Whose hand is my soul! Nothing comes out from my mouth except the truth.”
