Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Ata bin Yasar narrates from an Ansari that Sayyiduna Anas Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) kissed his wife while fasting during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he told his wife to go and ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about this issue. She asked him: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(There is no harm) The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself does this." She clarified the situation to her husband, but he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is given concession in certain specific matters (which are not for the common believer), so go again and present my objection before him. She went again to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: My husband says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is granted permission for certain things as a special case (but we...). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am the one among you who fears Allah the most and knows His limits the best."
