Hadith 3142

ـ (كان إذا دعَا دعَا ثلاثاً، وإذا سألَ سألَ ثلاثاً) .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying near the House of Allah, while Abu Jahl and his companions were sitting there, and a day before, some she-camels had been slaughtered. Abu Jahl (taking advantage of the situation) said: Who will bring the entrails of the slaughtered camels of Banu so-and-so and place them on Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) when he prostrates? (In response) the most wretched among them got up, brought the entrails, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrated, he placed them on him. (Seeing this) they started laughing excessively and falling over each other. I was standing and watching everything. I said: If I had the power, I would have removed it from the back of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained in prostration and did not raise his head. Someone went and informed Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her). She, who was still a young girl, came, removed them, then turned towards them and scolded them. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished his prayer, he loudly supplicated against them. Whenever he supplicated, he would do so three times, and likewise, when he asked (Allah Almighty), he would do so three times. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Allah! Seize the Quraysh.” (He supplicated this three times.) When they heard the voice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), their laughter stopped and they became afraid. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Allah! Seize Abu Jahl bin Hisham, Utbah bin Rabi’ah, Shaybah bin Rabi’ah, Walid bin ‘Uqbah, Umayyah bin Khalaf, and ‘Uqbah bin Amir.” He also mentioned the name of a seventh man, which I do not remember. By the One Who sent Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) with the truth! I saw all of them lying dead on the day of Badr, then they were dragged and thrown into the well of Badr.
