Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites this phrase one hundred (100) times in the morning and one hundred (100) times in the evening—that is, a total of two hundred (200) times: «لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ المُلْكُ ، وَلَهُ الحَمْدُ ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ» 'Allah is the only true deity, He is alone, He has no partner, sovereignty belongs to Him, all praise is for Him, and He is capable of everything'—then (in terms of rank and status) neither those before him will surpass him, nor will those after him be able to reach his (rank), except for the person who does more than this."
