Dua Upon Hearing Rooster Crow or Donkey Bray
Hadith 3072
- (إذا سمعتُم صياحَ الدِّيكة [بالليلِ] ؛فاسألوا الله من فضلهِ، [وارغبُوا إِليه] ؛ فإنّها رأت ملَكاً، وإذا سمعتُم نهيقَ الحمارِ [بالليلِ] ؛ فتعوَّذُوا باللهِ من الشيطانِ؛ فإنهُ رأى شيطاناً) .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you hear the crowing of a rooster at night, then ask Allah for His bounty and turn towards Him, for it (the rooster) crows because it sees an angel. And when you hear the braying of a donkey at night, then seek refuge with Allah from Satan, for it (the donkey) brays because it sees Satan."
