Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A Bedouin came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Teach me something of the best. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took his hand and said: “Say like this: Allah is Pure, all praise is for Allah, there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, Allah is the Greatest.” The Bedouin counted these four things on his fingers and left, but after thinking, he came back. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled and said, “The poor Bedouin has started thinking.” He came back and said: O Messenger of Allah! Allah is Pure, all praise is for Allah, Allah alone is worthy of worship, and Allah is the Greatest. All these (praising) words are for Allah, what is there for me? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: “Bedouin! When you say «سبحان الله », Allah, the Exalted, will say: «صدقت» (You have spoken the truth). When you say «الحمد لله», Allah, the Exalted, will say: «صدقت». When you say «لا اله الا الله», Allah, the Exalted, will say: «صدقت». When you say « اللہ اکبر», Allah, the Exalted, will say: «صدقت». And when you say «اللهم اغفرلى» ‘O Allah! Forgive me,’ Allah, the Exalted, will say: I have forgiven you. When you say «اللهم ارحمنى» ‘O Allah! Have mercy on me,’ Allah, the Exalted, will say: I have had mercy on you. And when you say «اللهم ارزقني» ‘O Allah! Provide for me,’ Allah, the Exalted, will say: I have decided to provide for you.” The Bedouin counted these seven words on his hand and left.
