Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Musa bin Yazid Kindi says: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was teaching a man the Noble Qur'an. (One day) he («انما الصدقات للفقراء والمساكين») recited it fluently and quickly. Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not teach me to recite as you are reciting. He said: O Abu Abdur-Rahman! How did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) teach you? He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me to recite «انما الصدقات للفقرا والمساكين» slowly and with elongation.
