Praise for Ash‘ari People for Their Melodious Recitation
Hadith 2917
- (إنِّي لأعرف أصوات رُفقة الأشعريّين بالقرآن حين يد خلُون بالليل، وأعرف منازلهم من أصواتهم بالقرآن باللّيل؛ وإن كنت لم أر منازلهم حين نزلوا بالنهارِ؛ ومنهم حكيم: إذا لقي الخيل - أو قال: العدوَّ-، قال لهم: إن أصحابي يأمرونكم أن تنظروهم) .
Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When the people of the Ash‘ari tribe recite the Qur'an during the night in Qiyam al-Layl, I recognize their voices. I have not seen them coming out of their houses during the day, but because of the voices heard at night, I certainly recognize their houses. Among them is a wise man, who, when he faces (the enemy's) army, says to them: My companions are commanding you to wait for them."
