Hadith 2879

- " يا عقبة بن عامر! صل من قطعك وأعط من حرمك واعف عمن ظلمك ".
Furwah bin Mujahid Lakhmi narrates from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him), who says: I met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said to me: "Uqbah bin Amir! Maintain ties with the one who cuts you off, give to the one who deprives you, and forgive the one who wrongs you." (I left) and when I came later, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Uqbah bin Amir! Restrain your tongue, let your house contain you (i.e., do not leave your house without necessity), and weep over your mistakes." (I left and) when I came the third time, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Uqbah bin Amir! Shall I not teach you such Surahs that have not been revealed in the Torah, nor in the Psalms, nor in the Gospel, nor in the rest of the Noble Qur'an? Recite these Surahs every night «قل هو الله احد», «قل اعوذ برب الفلق», and «قل اعوذ برب الناس»." Sayyiduna Uqbah says that I recite these Surahs every night, and it is only right that I do not abandon them, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded me. Whenever Furwah bin Mujahid narrated this hadith, he would say: How many people are there who neither control their tongues, nor weep over their mistakes, nor do their houses contain them.
