Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Saeed bin Musayyib says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting, and his companions were also sitting with him. A man insulted and hurt our master Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him). Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) remained silent. He hurt him a second time, and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) remained silent. When (he did not stop) and hurt him a third time, Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) also retaliated. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up. Our master Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: O Messenger of Allah! Did you notice what happened to me? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "An angel descended from the sky who kept refuting him. When you retaliated, Satan entered, so I cannot sit in a gathering in which Satan is present."
