Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the people of Jahiliyyah had fixed two days in the year for playing. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to Madinah, he said: "You had two days in which you used to play, Allah the Exalted has replaced them for you with two better days, and they are Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha."
