Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the time of death of Sayyiduna Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) approached, his wife, Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), said: "To whom are you leaving me entrusted?" He said: "O Allah! Indeed, You are better for Umm Salamah than I am." When he passed away, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a proposal of marriage to Umm Salamah. She replied: "I am advanced in age." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am older than you. Your children are entrusted to Allah and His Messenger. As for the issue of jealousy and displeasure (and becoming angry), I hope that Allah, the Exalted, will remove it." Eventually, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married her and sent to her two millstones and a water skin.
