Preserving a Muslim’s reputation is a great deed
Hadith 2662
- " من أكل برجل مسلم أكلة، فإن الله يطعمه مثلها من جهنم ومن اكتسى برجل مسلم ثوبا، فإن الله يكسوه مثله في جهنم ومن قام برجل مسلم مقام سمعة، فإن الله يقوم به مقام سمعة يوم القيامة ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mustawrid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever unjustly eats a morsel belonging to a Muslim, Allah Almighty will feed him from the food of Hell in proportion to it. Whoever unjustly wears a garment belonging to a Muslim, Allah Almighty will clothe him with a garment from Hell in proportion to it. And whoever safeguards the reputation of his Muslim brother, Allah Almighty will safeguard his reputation on the Day of Resurrection.”
