- " إذا لقي الرجل أخاه المسلم فليقل: السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته ".
Abu Tamimah Hajimi narrates from a man of his tribe, who was a companion, he says: I searched for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), but I was not successful. I sat down, and suddenly my eyes fell upon a group, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was among them, but I did not recognize him, and he was reconciling between them. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished and left, some people also walked with him. When they called out, "O Messenger of Allah," I became certain that he was indeed the Messenger of Allah. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah! Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah! Peace be upon you. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The words 'peace be upon you' are used to greet the dead." Then he turned to me and said: "When a man meets his brother, he should say: «السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته»." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied to my greeting, saying: "And peace and the mercy of Allah be upon you, and peace and the mercy of Allah be upon you, and peace and the mercy of Allah be upon you."
