It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: His slave girl came to him and said: "Times have become very hard for me and I intend to go to Iraq." Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Why do you not go to Sham, which is the place of gathering (Hashr)? O foolish one! Be patient. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'Whoever is patient over the hardship and difficulty of (this) Madinah, I will be his witness or intercessor on the Day of Resurrection.'" And in another narration, the words are: "Whoever is patient over the hardship and difficulty of (this) Madinah, then I... (will be an intercessor for him on the Day of Resurrection)."
