Protecting children at the start of night
Hadith 2537
- (كفّوا صِبْيانَكم عند فَحْمةِ العِشاءِ، وإيّاكُم والسّمر بعد هَدْأةِ الرّجلِ؛ فإنّكم لا تدرُون ما يَبُثُّ اللهُ من خَلقِه؟! فأغْلِقوا الأبوابَ، وأطفِئُوا المصْباحَ، وأكفئوا الإناء، وأوكوا السّقاء) .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "During the early darkness of the night, keep your children (inside your homes), and after people have gone to sleep at night, avoid conversation, for you do not know which of Allah’s creatures He may spread (on the earth). (At night) close the doors, extinguish the lamps, turn the vessels upside down, and tie the mouth of the water-skins."
