It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Walid bin Uqbah bin Abi Mu'it to the tribe of Banu Mustaliq to collect charity. When those people heard of his arrival, they became very happy and came out to welcome the messenger of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). But when Walid was informed that they had come out to welcome him, he returned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Banu Mustaliq have withheld the charity. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became very angry at this, and while he was considering fighting against them, a delegation from (Banu Mustaliq) arrived to see him and said: O Messenger of Allah! We have learned that your messenger returned halfway, and we became afraid that perhaps you were angry with us, because of which you wrote a letter to recall your messenger. We seek Allah's refuge from the anger of Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was pleased with them, even though he had intended (to fight) against them. Allah the Exalted revealed their excuse in His Book: "O you who believe! If a wicked person brings you any news, investigate it thoroughly, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and then become regretful for what you have done." __QUR_N__
