Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Guests from Bahrain stayed with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked for water for ablution and performed ablution. They rushed towards the water from his ablution; whatever water they found, they drank, and whatever had fallen on the ground, they wiped on their faces, heads, and chests. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked them: "What made you do this?" They said: O Messenger of Allah! Your love did. Perhaps (because of this manner of love) Allah Almighty will begin to love us. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "If you wish that Allah and His Messenger love you, then safeguard these three qualities: (1) Speaking the truth, (2) Fulfilling trusts, and (3) Being a good neighbor. (Remember that) harming the neighbor destroys good deeds just as the sun melts ice."
