Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Tawaf on the day of the conquest of Makkah on his Qaswa camel and touched the Black Stone with his staff. There was no place found to make the camel sit in the mosque, so it was taken to the flat part of the valley and made to sit there. Then he praised and glorified Allah and said: «أما بعد» O people! Indeed, Allah has removed the pride of ignorance from you. Now people are of two kinds: (1) The righteous, pious, and honorable in the sight of their Lord; (2) The sinful, wretched, and despicable in the sight of Allah. Then he recited this verse: O people! We created you from a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes so that you may recognize one another. Then he recited the entire verse and at the end said: "This is all I wanted to say, (now) I seek forgiveness from Allah for myself and for you."
