Hadith 2306

- (إنّ الله يحب العبد التقيَّ الغنيَّ الخفيَّ) .
It is narrated from ‘Amir bin Sa’d, he says that Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) was among his camels when his son ‘Umar came to him. When Sa’d saw him, he said: “I seek refuge with Allah from the evil of this rider.” Then he (‘Umar) dismounted and said: “You have become devoted to your camels and goats and have separated yourself from the people while they are disputing about the government.” Sayyiduna Sa’d struck his chest and said: “Be quiet! I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘Indeed, Allah loves the pious, self-sufficient, and obscure servant.’”

Kathir bin Aslami narrated this from Mutlib, who narrated from ‘Umar bin Sa’d, who narrated from his father that he said: “My son came to me, and I said to him (in response to his words): ‘My son! Are you inviting me to become a leader in the turmoil? By Allah! (I will not go until) I am given such a sword that if I strike a Muslim with it, it does not hit him, and if I strike a disbeliever with it, it kills him. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say... (the above-mentioned hadith was mentioned).”
