Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Suraqah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was at Ji‘ranah. I was not able to figure out how to ask him about it. (Eventually) I said: O Messenger of Allah! I fill my pond and wait for my animals to arrive (but in the meantime) the lambs or kids of another man drink from it. Will I get a reward for this? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “(Yes,) there is a reward in (serving and caring for) every living being with a moist liver.”
