Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when suddenly his gaze fell upon a group of people. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, “What are these people gathered for?” It was said that they are digging a grave. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) became anxious and hurried ahead of the companions, reaching the grave and sitting down on his knees. I came in front of him to see what he was doing. (I saw) that he was weeping (and wept so much that) the ground became wet with his tears. Then he turned towards us and said: “My brothers! Prepare for this day.”
