Hadith 2230

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited this verse: «هَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ حِينٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْئًا مَذْكُورًا» “Indeed, there came upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned.” (75: Al-Insan: 1) Then he said: “Surely, what I see you cannot see, and what I hear you cannot hear. (Listen) The heavens creak, and it is their right to creak, for there is not a space of four fingers in them except that there is an angel prostrating. By Allah! If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much, you would abandon the enjoyment with your wives on your beds, and you would go out to the hills beseeching Allah.”
