Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The status and rank of every person is found on his head, which is in the hand of an angel. When a servant adopts humility, it is said to the angel to raise his status and rank, and when he shows arrogance, it is said to the angel to lower his status and rank."
