- (ما كان لي ولبني عبدِ المطّلبِ؛ فَهُو لكم) .
Abu Jarwal Zuhair bin Surad Jashmi says: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made us captives on the day of the Battle of Hunayn (Hawazin), he began to separate the young men and women. At that time, I recited these verses:
O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Show kindness to us, it will be an act of mercy. You are such a personality from whom we have hope and (wait for our request to be fulfilled). Show kindness to the chaste women whom fate has bound, whose unity has been scattered by time. Time has forced us to cry out in grief. Hardship and distress have covered our hearts. If you do not show kindness to them, they will be scattered. O the one who is most prudent in difficult times, have mercy on those women whom you used to nurse from, who used to adorn you at a time when some things were chosen and some were left aside. Do not treat them as those whose unity has already been scattered. Outdo us in showing kindness to us, for we are one nation. For the blessings that are ungratefully denied, we will be grateful, and from today onwards we will be indebted to your kindness. Forgive those whom you used to nurse from, meaning your mothers, surely this forgiveness will become renowned. O the best of personalities, when the riders of black and red horses (for protection) surround you at a time when (in battle) enthusiasm and sparks are rising, they hope for the garment of forgiveness from you, we will wear it. O guide of creation! When you forgive and surpass (others), you forgive, Allah will forgive for you on the Day of Resurrection those matters which you fear, when success will be with you.
When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard these verses, he said: "Whatever is my share and the share of Abdul Muttalib, that is for you people." The Quraysh said: Whatever has come to our share is also for Allah and His Messenger. And the Ansar said: Whatever has come to our share is also for Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
