Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Al-Hirah (the place) has been likened for me to the fangs of dogs, and soon you will conquer it.” A man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! Grant me Bint Baqilah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Give her to him.” Her father came and said: “Will you sell her to me?” He said: Yes. He asked: For how much? He said: I will set my own price, and I will sell her for one thousand dirhams. He said: I have bought her. It was said: What if I had said thirty thousand? He said: Is there any number greater than a thousand?
