- (إنَّه قد أُذِن لَكُنَّ أن تَخْرجْنَ لحاجتكنَّ، وفي رواية: لحوائجكُنَّ) .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: After the command of veiling was revealed, Lady Sawda (may Allah be pleased with her) went out for some need of hers. She was a woman of large physique, so anyone who knew her from before could recognize her. Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saw her and said: "Sawda! By Allah, you cannot remain hidden from us, so consider how you go out." She returned, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was at my house and was eating the evening meal. There was a bone with meat in his hand. Meanwhile, Lady Sawda (may Allah be pleased with her) entered and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I went out for some work of mine, but Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said such and such to me." (At that moment) Allah the Exalted began to send down revelation upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then the state of revelation ended, and during this time the bone remained in his hand. Then he said: "You have been permitted to go out for your needs."
