Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke the (threatening words) regarding dragging the lower part of the garment, I (Umm Salamah) asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the ruling for us (women)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let it drag a span (on the ground)." Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: In that case, the feet may become exposed. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then let it drag a cubit."
