Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: One night I went out and saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was walking alone; there was no man with him. I thought perhaps the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) disliked that anyone should walk with him. So I began to walk in the shadow of the moon. He turned towards me, saw me, and asked: "Who is this?" I said: "I am Abu Dharr, may Allah make me your ransom." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Abu Dharr, come here." I went to him and walked with him for a while. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "On the Day of Resurrection, those with much wealth will be few in reward, except for the one whom Allah has given wealth and he scattered it to his right, left, front, and back (in charity), and did good deeds with it." Then I continued to walk with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) until he said: "Sit here." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made me sit on a flat piece of land, around which there were stones. Then he said: "Remain seated here until I return." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went towards the Harrah (land of black stones) and disappeared from sight; he stayed there for quite a while. Then I heard him coming, saying: "Even if he steals and commits adultery." When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reached me, I could not restrain myself and said: "O Prophet of Allah! May Allah make me your ransom! Who were you speaking to near the Harrah land? And no one was replying to you." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "That was Jibreel; he met me near the Harrah and said: (O Muhammad!) Give glad tidings to your Ummah that whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise." I said: "Jibreel! Even if he has stolen and committed adultery?" He said: "Yes." I said: "Even if he has stolen and committed adultery?" He said: "Yes." I said: "Even if he steals and commits adultery?" He said: "Yes, and even if he has drunk alcohol."
