Etiquette of travel
Hadith 1859
- " إذا سرتم في أرض خصبة، فأعطوا الدواب حقها أو حظها، وإذا سرتم في أرض جدبة فانجوا عليها، وعليكم بالدلجة، فإن الأرض تطوى بالليل، وإذا عرستم، فلا تعرسوا على قارعة الطريق فإنها مأوى كل دابة ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you are traveling through green pastures, give the animals their due (i.e., let them graze), and when you are passing through drought-stricken land, move quickly, and travel at night, for the distance of the land becomes shorter at night. When you camp somewhere, do not set up camp in the middle of the road, because (such places at night) are the resting places of all kinds of animals."
