Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The example of a believer and death is like that of a man who has three friends. The first friend says: ‘Take from me whatever you wish.’ The second says: ‘I am with you, but when you die, I will lay you down (in the grave) and separate from you.’ The third says: ‘I am with you and I will go out with you.’ The first friend is wealth, the second is family and children, and the third is deeds.”
