Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Salamah bin Nufayl Sakuti (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came close to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so much so that my knees were touching his thighs. I said: O Messenger of Allah! People are becoming neglectful of horses, weapons have been put aside, and people have started to think that jihad has ended. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "People are lying; fighting has just begun. A group from my ummah will remain steadfast upon the truth, prevailing over the people. Some people's hearts will continue to deviate, and they (the steadfast group) will keep fighting them and acquiring spoils of war from them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said, while his back was towards Yemen: "I am sensing the fragrance (or mercy) of the Most Merciful from this direction." At that time, he was pointing towards Yemen. "It has been revealed to me that I am not to remain (forever), but rather I will pass away. You people will follow after me group by group. (And remember that) goodness and blessing will remain suspended in the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection, and the horsemen will continue to endure hardships while riding them."
