Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): Your misguided uncle (and my father Abu Talib) has died, so who will bury him now? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You yourself go and bury your father." I said: I will not bury him because he died in a state of shirk (polytheism). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Just go, bury him, and after doing so, come to me without informing anyone about this matter." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I went, buried my father, and after finishing, I returned to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) instructed me to take a bath, so I took a bath, and then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made such precious supplications for me that, compared to them, even the treasures filling the earth did not seem good to me.
