Hadith 1725

- " كل، فلعمري لمن أكل برقية باطل، لقد أكلت برقية حق ".
Kharijah bin Salt narrates from his uncle Sayyiduna Alaqah bin Sahar that he passed by a people, and the people came to him and said, "You have come from that person (the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him) with goodness and virtue. Please perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for our man." Then they brought a man who was bound in chains. My uncle recited "Umm al-Qur'an" (i.e., Surah al-Fatihah) and performed ruqyah on him three times morning and evening, reciting this surah, gathering his saliva, and spitting on him. (He was cured to such an extent) as if he had been untied and set free from the ropes. They gave him something (as a reward) for this ruqyah. My uncle came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about this (compensation). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat it. By my life! Something will be said about the one who eats through false ruqyah, but you have eaten through a true ruqyah."
