Iblis's state on the day of Makkah's conquest
Hadith 159
ـ (لما افتَتَحَ - صلى الله عليه وسلم - مكةَ؛ رَنَّ إبليسُ رنّةً اجتمعتْ إليه جنودُه، فقالَ: ايْأَسُوا أن نرى أمّةَ محمّدٍ على الشّركِ بعْدَ يومِكم هذا! ولكنِ افتنُوهم في دينِهِم، وأَفْشُوا فيهم النَّوحَ) .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: When the Prophet (ﷺ) conquered Makkah, Iblis began to cry with a sorrowful voice, and his army gathered around him. He said: Despair, for after today we will not be able to see the Ummah of Muhammad (ﷺ) involved in shirk. Now, create tribulations in their religion and spread lamentation widely.
