Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I was on a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), at that time I was a young girl and not heavy-bodied. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his companions: "You go ahead." So they went ahead. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Come, let us race." I raced with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and I outran him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. Later, I became heavy-bodied and forgot about this incident. (Then one day) I went on a journey with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said to his companions: "You go ahead." So they went ahead. Then he said to me: "Come, let us race." I had forgotten about the previous race, and since my body had become heavy, I said: O Messenger of Allah! This is my condition, how can I race with you? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You must do it." So I raced, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) outran me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to smile and said: "This is in return for that (previous) victory."
