Hadith 1468

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadala bin Ubaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not ask about (the punishment of) three people: (1) A person who separated himself from the congregation and disobeyed the Imam and died in that state; (2) A slave man or woman who ran away (from their master) and died in that state; and (3) A woman whose husband was absent and he had fulfilled her worldly expenses, yet she went out adorned (in his absence). Do not ask about them (how great sinners they are). Similarly, there are three people (about whose punishment also) do not inquire: (1) A person who tried to snatch Allah's cloak, and His cloak is majesty and His lower garment is honor (and power); (2) A person who doubted Allah's command; and (3) A person who despaired of Allah's mercy."
