Atonement for oath for a better option
Hadith 1282
- " كان إذا حلف على يمين لا يحنث حتى أنزل الله تعالى كفارة اليمين، فقال: لا أحلف على يمين فأرى غيرها خيرا منها إلا كفرت عن يميني، ثم أتيت الذي هو خير ".
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took an oath, he would not break it. When Allah the Exalted revealed the command regarding the expiation for breaking oaths, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Now, whenever I take an oath and find something else better than it, I will offer expiation for my oath and choose the better thing."
